The multi-layered splicing tape LabelLink® is attached to the roll core by the label manufacturer and the end of the label web is in turn affixed to the splicing tape, before being rolled up to create a reel. When the end of the roll is reached, the label web becomes detached from the core, taking with it a layer of the splicing tape, which is coated in a special adhesive.
This surface is then stuck securely to the upper side of the liner of a new reel, either manually or using a splice head, from which the first label has been removed. The result is an overlapping splice between the old and the new label webs.
